Malcolm Wright

17 Jan 2021

I am sorry to report that Malcolm Wright has sadly died.

A long serving member of Winchcombe CC, Malcolm came to Winchcombe with his job from London and worked for the Coal Board in Stoke Orchard. He joined the Club in the late 1960's a batting for and captaining the second team and also renowned as an excellent slip fielder.

Later he served as a committee member, Club Secretary and regular umpire for the 2nd XI. Malcolm never stopped supporting the Club and was a regular spectator at the ground, as well as never missing an A.G.M. A formidable badminton player at Winchcombe Badminton Club he was also a member of the cricket club Silver Threads (ex players).

A true gentleman and good friend and well wisher to Winchcombe CC, he will be missed by all of us and by many people in Winchcombe and we send our condolences to his family. Regards Dipak Basu Winchcombe CC
